I sewed with knits and made leggings, both firsts.
See how fast I got through two of my resolutions for 2013? I set the bar low like that. (My excuse – I work FT, have two kids, and sew for fun! Not one of those I-love-a-challenge people. Yet.)
I used this pattern because I wanted some hand holding. It had a lot of great advice in the instructions, and it was written like a blog post. You know what was super easy? Sewing the crotch! Her method was awesome! I started after she went down for a nap and finished when she woke up. THAT is a success in my book!
I really recommend the pattern. It came in 3 months to size 8. Each size was a different color. I taped the pattern to the sliding glass door, put a piece of newspaper on it, and it was easy to tell which line to trace. Now I still have a pretty pattern for next time.

They look a little big because they are. I sized them for late summer/fall.

Totally cute! Also cute? Did you know that when I highlight your blog as I read it (yes I’m one of those people) – when I highlight, it’s hot pink instead of the generic blue!
I have no idea how that works, but I love it!
Haha, thanks! Fancy CSS code built in to the theme, I suppose.
I’m so pleased to see that you found these leggings to be easy and reliable, especially for your first try with knits! I really like my patterns to be “nap-tight” — it’s such a good feeling to get the whole thing done and be ready to be a mommy again when your little one is up and at ‘em. That truly is how I started developing my efficiency sewing–learning one pattern really well then figuring out how to tweak it to get what I wanted so that I wouldn’t have to constantly cut out new patterns, check instructions, etc. Thanks again! I’m looking forward to seeing what you think of the next Johnny Mango Seed pattern you try …
